GAME RECAP

Eckland nets hat trick, leads Alexandria to 5-1 win over Breezy Point

Runestone Community Center    Fri, Jan 25, 2013

Ian Eckland lifted the Alexandria Blizzard to a 5-1 victory with a hat trick against the Breezy Point North Stars.

Eckland's first goal came 10:05 into the first period. He then added goals at 32 seconds into the second and at 15:09 into the second.

Alexandria's Kyle Miller was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 29 saves and let only one puck past him. The solid play of Miller will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.11.

Breezy Point's power play was ineffective against the Blizzard's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Alexandria put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the North Stars to score on any of their nine power plays. Breezy Point was unable to stop the Blizzard from sending pucks towards the net, and Alexandria eventually piled up 45 shots on goal. The Blizzard could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 30 minutes in penalties during the game.

Danny Pelzer also scored for Alexandria. In addition, Alexandria received assists from Garrett Skinner, who had four and Chayce Coenen, Mick Dhein, Karson Kuntz, Sergey Erileev, and Ricky Seidel, who contributed one a piece.

Alexandria registered zero goals on two power play opportunities. Ian Shidlofsky recorded 40 saves for the North Stars. Breezy Point incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
