Fassbender's big game bests Flint in 6-2 Cleveland win

The Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks' David Fassbender had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing two assists in his team's 6-2 win over the Flint Jr. Generals.

Fassbender got on the board by slotting home a goal 10:48 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Cleveland. Mike Palasics provided the assist. Fassbender dished an assist on Cameron Dimmitt's goal that made the score 3-0 Cleveland at 3:59 into the third period. He added another helper on Dominic Valencia's goal that made the score 5-0 Cleveland at 12:38 into the third period.

Cleveland forced Flint goalie Ted Barile to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Cleveland also got points from Scott Cuthrell, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Palasics, who also had one goal and one assist, Valencia, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Dimmitt, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Zach Seither also scored for Cleveland. In addition, Cleveland received assists from Ryan Wandzel, Andrew Sprouse, Andrew Mitch, and Louis Sawchik, who contributed one a piece.

Flint also got a goal from Adrain Larsson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Flint were Phillip Garza, Conner McGovern, and Nicholas Gnagni, who each chipped in one.

The Jr. Lumberjacks' David Heflin stopped 23 shots out of the 25 that he faced. Cleveland totaled 25 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 2-for-6 on the power play. Barile recorded 29 saves for the Jr. Generals. Flint totaled 19 minutes in penalty time with seven minors and one major and went 1-for-4 on the power play.
