Cleveland downs Metro in overtime, 6-5 (OT)

The Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks pulled out a 6-5 (OT) overtime victory over the Metro Jets on a clutch goal by Ryan Wandzel.

Cleveland was sparked by Wandzel, who grabbed one goal. Wandzel scored 1:28 into overtime to make the score 6-5 Cleveland. Andrew Mitch provided the assist.

In a losing effort, Metro was paced by Mike Gambino, who had two goals. Gambino scored the first of his two goals at 15:06 into the second period to make the score 4-2 Cleveland. Michael Lawrence picked up the assist. Gambino's next tally made the score 4-3 Cleveland with 3:58 left in the second period. The Jets had gotten the advantage when the Jr. Lumberjacks' Nick Balavich was sent off for tripping. Alex Holm provided the assist.

Cleveland's offense rang up 44 shots on Metro's net.

Cleveland additionally got points from Mitch, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points and Fred West, who also registered one goal and one assist. Bo Zinner also scored for Cleveland. In addition, Cleveland received assists from Mike Palasics and Pat Smith, who each chipped in one and Scott Cuthrell and Jared Johnson, who contributed two a piece.

The Jets kept the Jr. Lumberjacks' goalie busy throughout the game, and Joseph Moza made 29 saves on 34 shots.

Metro also got points from Doug Andrews, who also racked up one goal and one assist, Andrew Palushaj, who also had one goal and one assist, and Lawrence, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Metro were Devon D'Angelo, who had two and Matt Stirling and Jeff Monfils, who each chipped in one.

Cleveland incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Alex Nedeljkovic rejected 38 shots on goal for Metro. The Jets incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
