Three Rivers downs Flint in overtime, 6-5 (OT)

Michael Straub gave the Three Rivers Vengeance a 6-5 (OT) victory over the Flint Jr. Generals when he scored 1:56 into the extra period.

Three Rivers came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Vengeance fell behind 5-3 after a goal by Flint's Nicholas Gnagni at 10:26 in the third period. Three Rivers knotted things up at 5-5 on a goal by Nico Vecchio at 19:53 in the third period.

With four goals and two assists between them, Vecchio and Tyler Stockwell teamed up to power the Vengeance's offense. Vecchio registered two goals and two assists and Stockwell also added two goals.

Three Rivers found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. The Vengeance have scored at the pace of 3.9 goals per game during the current campaign. Three Rivers' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Stephen Budkey also scored for Three Rivers. More assists for Three Rivers came via Ian Wood, who had two and Alex Berardinelli, Kevin Kenny, Justin Von Spreecken, and Chase Leonelli, who contributed one a piece.

The Jr. Generals were held back by their power play unit, which tallied two goals on nine chances.

Flint was led by Jacob Howie, who tallied two goals and two assists. Howie scored the first of his two goals short handed at 6:07 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Flint. The Jr. Generals played down a man on Jayson Lottes' hooking. Gnagni picked up the assist. Howie's next tally short handed made the score 2-1 Flint with 4:22 left in the first period. Phillip Garza assisted on the tally. Flint additionally got points from Gnagni, who also had one goal and two assists and Lucas McDiarimid, who also grabbed two goals and one assist. In addition, Flint received assists from Adrain Larsson and Timothy Conser, who each chipped in one.

The Vengeance's Nate Mortland stopped 21 shots out of the 26 that he faced. Three Rivers incurred 24 minutes in penalty time with 12 minors. Ted Barile made 15 saves for Flint on 21 shots. The Jr. Generals incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with 10 minors.
