GAME RECAP

Twin City blows out Breezy Point, 4-1

TCO Training Haus    Sat, Nov 03, 2012

The Twin City Steel had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-1 win over the Breezy Point North Stars.

Breezy Point was stymied by Twin City netminder Sawyer Marshall, who stopped 30 shots during the victory. Marshall managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.75 prior to the game.

The North Stars' power play was ineffective against the Steel's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

Twin City forced Breezy Point goalie Erikur Arnason to work between the pipes, taking 38 shots. The Steel struggled to stay out of the sin bin throughout the game as they finished the game with 66 penalty minutes for eight opposing power plays.

Twin City was helped by Trey Hughes, who finished with one goal. Hughes scored 33 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-0 Twin City. Ryan McAloon picked up the assist. Twin City also got a goal from Colin Fenelon as well. Other players who recorded assists for Twin City were Noah Anderson, who had two and Ryan Schroeder, Nick Cerrato, Tom Bartel, and Kegan Storjohann, who contributed one a piece.

The North Stars' offense rang up 31 shots on the Steel's net. Breezy Point could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 32 minutes in penalties during the game.

The North Stars were led by Kyle Whipple, who scored the team's only goal. Whipple scored on the power play 3:57 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Twin City. Breezy Point earned a power play opportunity when Cerrato was put in the box for too many men. Anthony Martinez provided the assist.

Twin City registered one goal on six power play opportunities. For the Steel, Greg Shelonzek was ejected from the game. Arnason rejected 34 shots on goal for the North Stars.
