Huge game by McCammant boosts Queen City over Quad City, 6-4

Lucas McCammant was all over the ice for the Queen City Steam, as he tallied two goals and three assists in Queen City's 6-4 win over the Quad City Jr. Flames.

McCammant's tallies came at 9:59 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Queen City and 10 seconds into the third to make the score 5-3 Queen City.

Quad City's power play was ineffective against the Steam's penalty kill, which allowed zero goals while shorthanded.

Queen City put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Jr. Flames to score on any of their 10 power plays. The Steam bested their season scoring average. Queen City averages 3.1 goals per game. The Steam could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Queen City also got points from Mitch Blank, who also registered one goal and two assists. Thomas Clayton also scored for Queen City. In addition, Queen City received assists from Damien Lona, who had one and Henry Smith, who had three.

Quad City outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, the Jr. Flames average 1.9 goal per contest. The defensemen of Quad City were also effective in Queen City's zone, and came away with two goals. The Jr. Flames could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Quad City was helped by Jake Wynd, who had one goal. Wynd scored 16:37 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Quad City. Clayton Janecke provided the assist. Quad City additionally got points from Anthony Caroselli, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Quad City also got a goal from Kevin Stone as well. Other players who recorded assists for Quad City were Harley Manus, who had two and Halen Sampson, Joe Edwards, Jason Hoehn, and Owen Ahlstrom, who each chipped in one.

The Steam's Chad Karns stopped 25 shots out of the 29 that he faced. Queen City registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. Jake Leon made 18 saves before being replaced by Robby Vukelich, who took the loss and made six saves.
