Queen City uses early goal to top Quad City, 3-1

Kyle Johnson gave the Queen City Steam the lead in the first period, and the Quad City Jr. Flames was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 3-1.

A goal 13:37 into the the first period by Johnson proved to be the game winner, and powered Queen City to the victory John Bonta provided the assist.

The Steam were led by goalie Chad Karns, who finished with 25 saves while allowing one goal. Karns managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 3.53 prior to the game.

Queen City was led by Stephen Pack, who tallied one goal. Pack scored 18:53 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Queen City. Damien Lona picked up the assist.

Henry Smith also scored for Queen City. Other players who recorded assists for Queen City were Lucas McCammant and Thomas Clayton, who each chipped in one.

Quad City put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Steam to score on any of their four power plays.

The Jr. Flames were led by Easton Halbert, who scored the team's only goal. Halbert scored on the power play 7:58 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Queen City. Quad City had taken the advantage when Queen City's Nick Brusa got sent off for elbowing. Anthony Caroselli assisted on the tally.

The Steam incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. Robby Vukelich rejected 26 shots on goal for the Jr. Flames. Quad City incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
