Toledo downs Michigan in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

The Toledo Cherokee's Connor Crowe scored 2:23 into overtime to beat the Michigan Mountain Cats, 5-4 (OT).

Michigan's power play was ineffective against Toledo's penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Cherokee were led by Crowe, who grabbed one goal and one assist.

Toledo was often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and one major for 31 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 28.0 minutes per game the Cherokee had been spending in the box. Toledo forced the Mountain Cats goalie Dominic Juncaj to work between the pipes, taking 52 shots.

Toledo also got points from Andrew Benyo, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Brett Podgorski, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Toledo also got a goal from Jordan Prewitt as well. In addition, Toledo received assists from Brandin Thelen and Jordan Fogarty, who each chipped in one and Brody Duncan and Alec Gerred, who contributed two a piece.

Michigan kept the Cherokee's goalie busy throughout the game, and Hunter Vorva made 38 saves on 42 shots.

The Mountain Cats were helped by Bryan Davis, who registered one goal. Davis scored 14:44 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Toledo. Cameron Bruff provided the assist. Michigan additionally got points from Guy Soulliere, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Marshall Helton, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. James Gleason also scored for Michigan. More assists for Michigan came via Ben Mack and Austin Sartorius, who each chipped in one.

Toledo registered one goal on four power play opportunities. For the Cherokee, Blake Podgorski was ejected from the game. Dominic Juncaj made 47 saves for Michigan on 52 shots. The Mountain Cats ended with 21 minutes in penalty time with eight minors and one major.
