A stellar performance between the pipes by Josh Cliff helped the Toledo Cherokee defeat the Michigan Mountain Cats, 5-1. Connor Crowe had two goals to lead Toledo to victory. Crowe scored at 3:29 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Toledo and again while 19:47 into the third to make the score 5-1 Toledo. The Cherokee stifled Michigan's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Toledo's offense rang up 37 shots on the Mountain Cats' net. Others who scored for Toledo included Tyler Zalecki, who had one and Brett Podgorski, who had two. More assists for Toledo came via Brody Duncan, Zachary Armstrong, Donnie Nagle, Austin Turner, Blake Podgorski, and Brandon Layman, who contributed one a piece and Jordan Prewitt and Brandin Thelen, who each chipped in two. Michigan kept the Cherokee's goalie busy throughout the game, and Cliff made 31 saves on 32 shots. The Mountain Cats were led by Kyle Rojem, who scored the team's only goal. Rojem scored 9:35 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Toledo. Kent Wargo picked up the assist. Toledo incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Dylan Martin made 32 saves for Michigan on 37 shots. The Mountain Cats incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
