Twin City rips Breezy Point, 6-2

The Twin City Steel had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 6-2 win over the Breezy Point North Stars.

Twin City pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 45 penalty minutes.

The Steel made Breezy Point's netminders to work without much rest, finishing with 36 shots and forcing 30 saves. Ian Shidlofsky made 13 stops and Grant Holler made 17. Twin City surpassed its usual scoring output this season. This season, the Steel average 3.0 goals per contest.

Twin City was helped by Trey Hughes, who registered two goals and one assist. Hughes scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 1:41 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Twin City. Ryan McAloon provided the assist. Hughes' next tally on the power play made the score 5-1 Twin City with 15:46 left in the third period. The Steel found themselves down a man on Marvin Powell's kneeing. Kegan Storjohann assisted on the tally. Twin City additionally got points from Storjohann, who also finished with one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Others who scored for Twin City included Isaac Hale, who had one and Nick Cerrato, who had two. Other players who recorded assists for Twin City were Ryan Schroeder, Tyler Lodin, and Tom Bartel, who each chipped in one.

Team could not crack Twin City's penalty kill and was held to one power play goal while having nine opportunities to play with the man advantage. The North Stars could not stay out of the penalty box, as the team accrued 26 minutes in penalties during the game.

Breezy Point was led by Austin Cline, who grabbed one goal. Cline scored on the power play 12:41 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The North Stars had gained a power play chance when Schroeder was whistled for roughing. Bryson Jasper picked up the assist. Breezy Point also got a goal from Spencer Bajko as well. In addition, Breezy Point received assists from Nick Shear, who had one.

Jared Schletty made 26 saves for the Steel on 28 shots. Twin City registered three goals on six power play opportunities.
