Dimmitt's big game bests Queen City in 6-3 Cleveland win

Behind a great game by Cameron Dimmitt, who had one goal and two assists, the Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks defeated the Queen City Steam, 6-3.

Dimmitt got on the board by slotting home a power play goal 16:15 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Cleveland. Cleveland earned a power play opportunity when Stephen Pack was put in the box for slashing. Scott Cuthrell provided the assist. Dimmitt dished an assist on Andrew Mitch's goal that made the score 2-1 Cleveland at 5:10 into the second period. He added another helper on David Fassbender's goal that made the score 5-1 Cleveland at 18:18 into the second period.

The Jr. Lumberjacks made Steam's goalies to work hard to keep the puck out of the net, racking up 34 shots and forcing 28 saves. Chad Karns made 20 stops and Adam Eno made eight. Cleveland's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

Cleveland additionally got points from Fassbender, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Pat Smith, who also registered one goal and one assist. Cleveland also got a goal from Brad Hepler as well. In addition, Cleveland received assists from Fred West, who had three and Mike Palasics and Jared Johnson, who contributed one a piece.

Queen City was led by Tyler Belmont, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Belmont scored 14:50 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Queen City. James Ervin picked up the assist. Lucas McCammant also scored for Queen City. More assists for Queen City came via Henry Smith, Damien Lona, and Hyo Jun Baek, who each chipped in one.

David Heflin made 24 saves for the Jr. Lumberjacks on 27 shots. Cleveland totaled 36 minutes in penalty time with three minors and two majors and went 1-for-1 on the power play. The Steam totaled 24 minutes in penalty time with two minors and two majors and went 1-for-2 on the power play.
