Peoria outlasts Quad City, 4-2

In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Peoria Mustangs escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Quad City Jr. Flames.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Cory Kettler at 16:49 of the second period.

Peoria pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 14 penalty minutes.

The Mustangs were led by Kettler, who had one goal and one assist.

Peoria forced Quad City's goaltenders to work between the pipes, taking 36 shots and forcing 32 saves. Robby Vukelich made 22 stops and Jake Leon made 10.

Alexander Turin also scored for Peoria. Other players who recorded assists for Peoria were Austin Wisely, Brendan Murphy, and Gage Van Order, who each chipped in one.

The Jr. Flames kept the Mustangs' goalie busy throughout the game, and Matthew Pinel made 36 saves on 38 shots. Quad City's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals.

The Jr. Flames were helped by Tanner Litvinoff, who registered one goal. Litvinoff scored 1:10 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Peter Coppola picked up the assist. Quad City also got a goal from Chayce Coenen as well. More assists for Quad City came via Jason Hoehn, Easton Halbert, and Harley Manus, who contributed one a piece.

Peoria registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Quad City incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
