Dodd leads St. Louis over Queen City, 7-1

Trey Dodd had two goals and one assist to lead the St. Louis Jr. Blues to a 7-1 victory over the Queen City Steam.

Dodd scored at 8:45 into the second period to make the score 3-1 St. Louis and again while on the power play 15:39 into the third to make the score 6-1 St. Louis.

St. Louis' penalty kill excelled, as the Jr. Blues gave up one goal despite allowing eight power plays.

St. Louis made Steam's goaltenders to work between the pipes, ripping 32 shots and forcing 25 saves. Adam Eno made 11 stops and Chad Karns made 14.

St. Louis also got points from Sam Turner, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Payne Alexander, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Lukas Daniels also scored for St. Louis. Other players who recorded assists for St. Louis were Mike Lozano, who had two and Tommy Winkler and Justin Rehrer, who each chipped in one.

Queen City was led by Nick Brusa, who scored the team's only goal. Brusa scored on the power play 15:27 into the first period to make the score 1-1. The Steam had gotten the advantage when the Jr. Blues' Andrew Kovacich was sent off for tripping. Robert Gentile assisted on the tally.

St. Louis' Clint Steinmeyer stopped 20 shots out of the 21 that he faced. The Jr. Blues incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Queen City incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
