The Twin City Steel tried to dig themselves out of a two-goal hole, but the Minnesota Flying Aces held on for a 4-3 victory. Minnesota made the score 4-2 on a goal by Chase Myers-Beck at 12:03 in the third period, and Twin City got as close as 4-3 when Tyler Elson scored 19:48 into the third period. Myers-Beck was all over the ice for the Flying Aces, as he grabbed two goals in the win. Minnesota's offense rang up 48 shots on the Steel's net. The Flying Aces' penalty kill was ineffective, and let in two goals to Twin City's power play unit. Minnesota also got a goal from Billy Wagner as well. In addition, Minnesota received assists from Blake Williams, who had two and Blair Seitz, Payton Trammel, Alex Yde, Jared Sprink, and Brett Sorem, who contributed one a piece. The Steel excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. Minnesota was unable to stop Twin City from sending pucks towards the net, and the Steel eventually piled up 39 shots on goal. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. Tyler Lodin also scored for Twin City. Other players who recorded assists for Twin City were Trey Hughes, who had two and Tony Buchal, Nick Cerrato, Tom Bartel, and Marvin Powell, who each chipped in one. The Flying Aces' Rocco Yapello stopped 36 shots out of the 39 that he faced. Minnesota incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Jared Schletty made 44 saves for Twin City on 48 shots. The Steel incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. |
