Cleveland blows out Metro, 7-1

The Cleveland Jr. Lumberjacks had a three-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 7-1 win over the Metro Jets.

Cleveland was sparked by Louis Sawchik, who finished with one goal. Sawchik scored 19:57 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Cleveland. Scott Cuthrell provided the assist.

The Jr. Lumberjacks made Jets' netminders to work without much rest, launching 41 shots and forcing 34 saves. Austin Julvezan made 21 stops and Luke DuBois made 13. Cleveland excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Jr. Lumberjacks found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Cleveland has scored at the pace of 4.7 goals per game during the current campaign.

Cleveland also got points from Mike Palasics, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Cameron Dimmitt, who also had one goal and one assist, and Fred West, who also registered one goal and one assist. Cleveland also got a goal from Brendan Logan as well. Other players who recorded assists for Cleveland were Brad Hepler, who had one, Dallas Szustak, who had two, and Toms Taurins, who had three.

Metro did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Jets put an average of 4.5 pucks into the net per game. Metro did not challenge the opposing netminder, only getting 14 shots on net to force 13 saves.

The Jets were led by Andrew Palushaj, who scored the team's only goal. Palushaj scored 15:53 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Doug Andrews picked up the assist.

Christan Michalik recorded 13 saves for the Jr. Lumberjacks. Cleveland incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Metro ended with 35 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major.
