Flint falls to Michigan in overtime, 4-3 (OT)

William Helton II gave the Michigan Mountain Cats a 4-3 (OT) victory over the Flint Jr. Generals when he scored 4:40 into the extra period.

Austin Sartorius was all over the ice for Michigan, as he had two goals in the win. Sartorius scored at 10:08 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Michigan and again while 1:05 into the third to make the score 3-2 Michigan.

The Mountain Cats' penalty killing units received substantial work throughout the game as Michigan finished with 44 penalty minutes.

Michigan also got points from Guy Soulliere, who also racked up one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. More assists for Michigan came via John Arms, Derek Ried, Kade Morrison, Ben Mack, Alex Kopek, and Ethan Baker, who contributed one a piece.

Flint stifled the Mountain Cats' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man.

The Jr. Generals were helped by Adam Beuthin, who finished with one goal and one assist. Beuthin scored 13:51 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Timothy Conser picked up the assist. Flint additionally got points from Nicholas Gnagni, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Edward Osowski also scored for Flint. In addition, Flint received assists from Jacob Howie, who had one and Andrew Lay, who had two.

Dominic Juncaj made 23 saves for Michigan on 26 shots. The Mountain Cats registered zero goals on five power play opportunities. Michigan ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Helton II was ejected from the game. Ted Barile rejected 20 shots on goal for Flint. The Jr. Generals incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
