Austin blows out Coulee Region, 5-1Omni Center Sat, Mar 30, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Austin Bruins were firing on all cylinders against the Coulee Region Chill, and when the final buzzer sounded Bruins emerged with a 5-1 win. Austin was led by goalie Jason Pawloski, who finished with 34 saves while allowing one goal. Pawloski certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.52 entering the contest. The Bruins were paced by AJ Reid, who registered one goal and one assist. Reid scored 14:49 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Austin. Travis Maxwell picked up the assist. Austin racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with six minors and one major for 27 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 20.0 minutes per game the Bruins had been spending in the box. Austin's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on four Coulee Region power plays. The Bruins' offense was helped by the efforts of their defensemen, who managed to put 21 shots on net during the game. The 49 shots that Austin put on net surpassed the Bruins' average of 27.9 shots per game this season. Austin also got points from Josh Bretner, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Nate Mondry, who also had one goal and one assist. Austin also got a goal from CJ Smith as well. More assists for Austin came via Joey Caprio, who had two and Chris Fischer, Brandon Wahlin, Grant Eichstadt, and Easton Viitala, who contributed one a piece. Coulee Region's offense was clicking better than usual and put 35 shots on goal during the game, better than the 26.3 shots per game it averages. Austin registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Tim Shaughnessy recorded 44 saves for the Chill. Coulee Region ended with 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major.
