In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Austin Bruins escaped with a 4-2 victory over the Coulee Region Chill.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by CJ Smith at 19:17 of the third period.

Austin got the win on the strength of a great game by AJ Reid, who had two goals and one assist. Reid scored the first of his two goals at 12:04 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Austin. Josh Bretner picked up the assist. Reid's next tally made the score 3-2 Austin with 19:05 left in the third period. Smith provided the assist.

The the Bruins penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled six minors and one major for 47 minutes in penalty time. Austin had been averaging 20.0 minutes in penalties per game. By firing 38 shots on goal, the Bruins exceeded the 27.9 shots they average per game this year.

Austin also got points from Smith, who also finished with one goal and one assist and Jay Dickman, who also tallied one goal and one assist. More assists for Austin came via Chris Fischer, who had one.

Coulee Region racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with eight minors and one major for 21 minutes in penalty time. The Chill surpassed its season average of 14.0 penalty minutes per game. Coulee Region averages 26.4 shots on goal per game, but only sent 21 pucks on net against Austin.

The Chill were led by Andy Faust, who grabbed one goal and two assists. Faust scored 17:07 into the second period to make the score 2-2. Coulee Region additionally got points from Mac Jansen, who also had one goal and one assist. Coulee Region also got a goal from Hunter Anderson as well. Other players who recorded assists for Coulee Region were Brady Riesgraf, who had one.

Nicholas Lehr rejected 19 shots on goal for the Bruins. Austin registered one goal on seven power play opportunities. Coulee Region's Tim Shaughnessy stopped 34 shots out of the 37 that he faced. The Chill registered one goal on three power play opportunities.
