Blankenburg leads Port Huron to shutout victory over Michigan

Alex Blankenburg was superb between the pipes for the Port Huron Fighting Falcons, as he did not allow a goal in a 4-0 victory over the Michigan Warriors.

Port Huron was led by Easton Powers, who finished with one goal. Powers scored 11:08 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Port Huron. Tyler Spezia assisted on the tally.

The Fighting Falcons' defensive play was more effective than usual against Michigan. Port Huron gives up 2.7 goals on average per game. By firing 36 shots on goal, the Fighting Falcons exceeded the 25.2 shots they average per game this year.

Port Huron additionally got points from Dan Dupell, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Port Huron also got a goal from Jonathan Kopacka as well. In addition, Port Huron received assists from Ryan Nick, Mick Bruce, Brett DAndrea, Dunk Abbott, Mitch Maloney, and Nick Horne, who each chipped in one.

The Warriors avoided man-down situations well, registering one major for five minutes in penalty time. Michigan finished below its season average of 14.0 penalty minutes per game. The Warriors' offense operated below they season average. Michigan puts an average of 2.3 pucks into the net per game. The Warriors put 27 shots on net during the contest, more than the 22.1 they average per game.

Michigan was led by Jon Farkas, who took seven shots.

Alex Blankenburg made 27 saves for Port Huron on 27 shots. The Fighting Falcons totaled seven minutes in penalty time with one minor and one major and had no power play opportunities. The Warriors' starting goalie, Trevor Gorsuch, made 18 saves and finished with the loss before he was taken out in favor of Dillion Kelley, who stopped 14 shots. Michigan registered zero goals on one power play opportunities.
