Cowley leads Wichita Falls to shutout victory over Odessa

The Wichita Falls Wildcats used a sparkling performance by Evan Cowley to take down the Odessa Jackalopes, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Wichita Falls' 4-0 shutout victory.

The Wildcats pulled out the victory even though they were hit with 16 penalty minutes.

Wichita Falls excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Wildcats relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Eliot Grauer, Patrick Yudez and Tyler Ledford took 17 of the team's 32 shots.

Wichita Falls was helped by Kyle Bauman, who grabbed one goal. Bauman scored 13:03 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wichita Falls. Nick Farmer picked up the assist. In addition, Wichita Falls received assists from Brian LeBlanc, Sam Pzazza, Colin Staub, O'Neal L, and Charles Hemstrom, who each chipped in one.

The 27 shots that Odessa put on net surpassed the Jackalopes' average of 14.1 shots per game this season.

Odessa was led by Mike Mezzano, who took three shots.

Cowley rejected 27 shots on goal for the Wildcats. Wichita Falls registered one goal on six power play opportunities. Nick Deery recorded 28 saves for the Jackalopes. Odessa incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors.
