Amarillo outlasts Corpus Christi, 5-4AmericanBank Center Sun, Mar 24, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Amarillo Bulls escaped with a 5-4 victory over the Corpus Christi IceRays. Each team kept the other at bay throughout the game, and Matt Sieckhaus secured the win for Amarillo with a goal in the third period. The Bulls' offense was helped by the efforts of their defensemen, who managed to put 17 shots on net during the game. With 42 shots on target during the contest, Amarillo exceeded the 31.6 shots it averages per game this year. Amarillo additionally got points from Tyler Rostenkowski, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Omar Mullan, who also tallied one goal and one assist, and Mike Davis, who also racked up one goal and one assist. Tyler Gernhofer also scored for Amarillo. In addition, Amarillo received assists from Geoff Fortman, Hampus Gustafsson, and TJ Sherman, who each chipped in one. Corpus Christi was led by Rudy Sulmonde, who registered two goals and one assist. Sulmonde scored the first of his two goals at 4:56 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Corpus Christi. The Bulls took out Collin Delia after he had made 16 saves and installed Paul Berrafato in goal, where he finished with six saves and the win. Amarillo totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-6 on the power play. Ben Myers recorded 37 saves for the IceRays. Corpus Christi totaled 35 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major and went 1-for-5 on the power play. |
