Bismarck falls to Aberdeen in overtime, 2-1 (OT)VFW Sports Center Fri, Mar 15, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
Peter Krieger gave the Aberdeen Wings a 2-1 (OT) victory over the Bismarck Bobcats when he scored 52 seconds into the extra period. Bismarck was stymied by Aberdeen netminder Chad Catt, who stopped 46 shots during the victory. Catt managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.95 prior to the game. The Wings were led by Krieger, who had one goal. Aberdeen put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Bobcats to score on any of their three power plays. The Wings average 25.4 shots on goal per game, but only sent 20 pucks on net against Bismarck. Aberdeen also got points from Jake Horton, who also registered one goal and one assist. In addition, Aberdeen received assists from Steven Johnson, Kyle Haak, and Justin Parizek, who each chipped in one. The Bobcats' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Aberdeen power plays. Bismarck forced Aberdeen goalie Catt to work between the pipes, taking 47 shots. The Bobcats were led by Daniel Kovar, who scored the team's only goal. Kovar scored short handed 1:54 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Bismarck. Bismarck found itself down a man on Matt Pohlkamp's elbowing. Filip Starzynski picked up the assist. The Wings incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Bryan Nies recorded 18 saves for the Bobcats. Bismarck incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
