Kautz stymies Michigan, Janesville wins 4-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Brock Kautz helped the Janesville Jets defeat the Michigan Warriors, 4-1.

Janesville was led by Conor Lemirande, who racked up one goal. Lemirande scored 7:29 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Janesville. Jason Ford picked up the assist.

The Jets put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Michigan to score on any of its three power plays. By firing 28 shots on goal, Janesville exceeded the 21.7 shots it averages per game this year.

Janesville additionally got points from Ryan Dau, who also grabbed one goal and one assist and Pedlan Ruslan, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Janesville also got a goal from Kucerovy as well. Other players who recorded assists for Janesville were Jordan Himley, who had two and Ryan Gotelaere, Todd Koritzinsky, and Dan Litchke, who contributed one a piece.

With 31 shots on target during the contest, the Warriors exceeded the 23.9 shots they average per game this year.

Michigan was led by Zack Szajner, who scored the team's only goal. Szajner scored 1:08 into the third period to make the score 2-1 Janesville. Colin Larkin assisted on the tally.

Kautz rejected 30 shots on goal for the Jets. Janesville incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. The Warriors' Trevor Gorsuch stopped 24 shots out of the 28 that he faced. Michigan incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
