Brookings outlasts Coulee Region, 6-4

The game between the Brookings Blizzard and the Coulee Region Chill was tight through all 60 minutes, but in the end Brookings emerged with a 6-4 win.

No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Adam Cavalinni at 18:05 of the third period.

The Blizzard were sparked by Cavalinni, who racked up one goal and one assist.

Brookings' goal total was higher than its season average. This season, the Blizzard average 3.0 goals per contest. Brookings took advantage of Coulee Region's penalties, tallying three goals off of four power play opportunities.

Brookings additionally got points from Nikta Sokolov, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Thomas Williams, who also registered one goal and one assist, and Cody Marooney, who also had one goal and one assist. Evan Hesse also scored for Brookings. Other players who recorded assists for Brookings were Eetu Karvinen, who had one and Justin Moody, Drew Brevig, and Brandon Parker, who contributed two a piece.

Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

The Chill were led by Andy Faust, who tallied one goal and one assist. Faust scored 14:18 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Coulee Region. Hunter Anderson assisted on the tally. Coulee Region also got a goal from Sean Lang as well. In addition, Coulee Region received assists from Mac Jansen, who had two and Cory Lushanko, James McGing, Blake Kelley, and Garrett Hendrickson, who each chipped in one.

The Blizzard's Drew Weigman stopped 17 shots out of the 21 that he faced. Brookings incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Tim Shaughnessy rejected 24 shots on goal for Coulee Region. The Chill incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
