Davis' goals lift Amarillo to 7-1 victory over Wichita Falls

Behind a great game by Mike Davis, who had five goals, the Amarillo Bulls defeated the Wichita Falls Wildcats, 7-1.

Davis got on the scoresheet 16:23 into the first period. He then added goals at 5:10 into the second, at 7:41 into the second, at 1:04 into the third, and at 2:17 into the third.

Amarillo was led by goalie Paul Berrafato, who finished with 30 saves while allowing one goal. Berrafato managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 1.68 prior to the game.

Wichita Falls' power play was ineffective against the Bulls' penalty kill, which allowed one goal while shorthanded.

The Amarillo penalty box was a popular destination as the team totaled seven minors and two majors for 44 minutes in penalty time. The Bulls surpassed its season average of 22.0 penalty minutes per game. Amarillo outdid its season average for goals scored. This season, the Bulls average 4.1 goals per contest. The 40 shots that Amarillo put on net surpassed the Bulls' average of 32.1 shots per game this season.

Amarillo also got points from Tyler Deresky, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Omar Mullan also scored for Amarillo. In addition, Amarillo received assists from Tyler Gernhofer, who had three and Connor Frey, John Rey, Geoff Fortman, Gage Christianson, Brady Ferguson, Dan McNamara, Blake Roubos, Hampus Gustafsson, and Joe Grabowski, who each chipped in one.

The Wildcats were often in penalty trouble, totaling five minors and two majors for 30 minutes in penalty time. Wichita Falls had been averaging 16.0 minutes in penalties per game. The Wildcats did not reach the goal total they have come to expect this season. Wichita Falls puts an average of 3.1 pucks into the net per game. The Wildcats' offense rang up 31 shots on Amarillo's net.

Wichita Falls was led by O'Neal L, who scored the team's only goal. L scored on the power play 6:58 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wichita Falls. The Wildcats had taken the advantage when the Bulls' Mullan got sent off for tripping. Charles Hemstrom assisted on the tally.

Amarillo registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Wichita Falls took out Cooper Cook after he had made 17 saves and installed Evan Cowley in goal, where he finished with 16 saves and the loss.
