Wichita Falls holds on for 2-1 win against Corpus Christi

The Corpus Christi IceRays tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Wichita Falls Wildcats would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 2-1.

Wichita Falls made the score 2-0 on a goal by Eliot Grauer at 19:18 in the second period, and Corpus Christi got as close as 2-1 when Caleb OBrien scored 7:13 into the third period.

The Wildcats' Evan Cowley was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 38 saves and let only one puck past him. Cowley managed to improve on his goals against average, which stood at 2.99 prior to the game.

Wichita Falls was sparked by Grauer, who finished with one goal.

The Wildcats forced the IceRays goalie Hayden Stewart to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

Ben Kucera also scored for Wichita Falls. In addition, Wichita Falls received assists from Sam Pzazza, Matt Robinson, and Salminen Sami, who each chipped in one.

Corpus Christi stifled Wichita Falls' power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The IceRays' offense rang up 39 shots on the Wildcats' net.

More assists for Corpus Christi came via Rudy Sulmonde and Brandon Smith, who contributed one a piece.

Wichita Falls totaled nine minutes in penalty time with two minors and one major and went 0-for-3 on the power play. Hayden Stewart made 30 saves for Corpus Christi on 32 shots. The IceRays totaled 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 0-for-2 on the power play.
