Wenatchee falls to Fresno in overtime, 5-4 (OT)

Matt Salituro gave the Fresno Monsters a 5-4 (OT) victory over the Wenatchee Wild when he scored 4:55 into the extra period.

Fresno came back from a two-goal deficit to capture the victory. The Monsters fell behind 4-2 after a goal by Wenatchee's Trevor Stewart at 8:04 in the third period. Fresno knotted things up at 4-4 on a goal by Karl Andersen at 19:01 in the third period.

Salituro was all over the ice for the Monsters, as he tallied two goals and one assist in the win. Salituro scored the first of his two goals at 13:01 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Wenatchee. Andersen provided the assist. Salituro's next tally made the score 5-4 Fresno with 15:05 left in overtime. Fresno had gotten the advantage when the Wild's Max McHugh was sent off for tripping. Kyle Sucher picked up the assist.

By firing 28 shots on goal, the Monsters exceeded the 17.3 shots they average per game this year. Fresno surpassed its usual scoring output this season. The Monsters have scored at the pace of 2.4 goals per game during the current campaign.

Fresno also got points from Andersen, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Fresno also got a goal from Ian Janco as well. In addition, Fresno received assists from Christian Salvato and Gordon Wells, who contributed one a piece.

Wenatchee's defense let in more goals than it usually has this year. The Wild average 2.3 goals allowed per game.

Wenatchee additionally got points from McHugh, who also registered one goal and one assist. Jono Davis also scored for Wenatchee. Other players who recorded assists for Wenatchee were Nicholas Kuchera, who had two and Joshua Hartley and Joseph Sullivan, who each chipped in one.

Tomas Sholl rejected 25 shots on goal for Fresno. The Monsters incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Nick Schmit recorded 23 saves for Wenatchee. The Wild incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
