Repensky leads Bismarck over Brookings, 6-3

The Bismarck Bobcats' Nate Repensky had a big offensive game, scoring two goals and contributing two assists in his team's 6-3 win over the Brookings Blizzard.

Repensky found the back of the net on the power play 11:57 into the second period to make the score 3-2 Brookings and again while on the power play 3:38 into the third to make the score 4-3 Bismarck.

Bismarck was boosted by Bryan Nies, who turned in a shutout with 25 saves. The solid play of Nies will be reflected in his goals against average, which pre-game was 2.71.

Brookings' 12 penalties came back to haunt it, as the Blizzard let up four goals while on the penalty kill.

The Bobcats found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Bismarck has scored at the pace of 2.9 goals per game during the current campaign. The defensemen of the Bobcats were also effective in Brookings' zone, and came away with two goals. With 39 shots on target during the contest, Bismarck exceeded the 22.4 shots it averages per game this year.

Bismarck also got points from Filip Starzynski, who also registered one goal and two assists. Others who scored for Bismarck included Bob Kinne, who had one and Evan Giesler, who had two. More assists for Bismarck came via Seth Blair, who had two and Levi Blom, Jeremy OKeefe, Matt Pohlkamp, Ryan Callahan, Joe Giordano, and Matt Anders, who contributed one a piece.

The Blizzard were often in penalty trouble, totaling 11 minors and one major for 37 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 21.0 minutes per game Brookings had been spending in the box. The Blizzard forced the Bobcats goalie Nies to work between the pipes, taking 35 shots.

Brookings was led by Connor Andrle, who grabbed one goal and one assist. Andrle scored 8:36 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Brookings. Craig Lindegard provided the assist. Jared Docken also scored for Brookings. Other players who recorded assists for Brookings were Nikta Sokolov, Justin Moody, Derek Sand, and Cody Marooney, who each chipped in one.

Bismarck incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Drew Weigman rejected 33 shots on goal for the Blizzard. Brookings registered one goal on four power play opportunities. The Blizzard ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Andrle was ejected from the game.
