Maysa Arena    Fri, Mar 01, 2013

Ryan Ruck made 40 saves to complete the shutout and led the Minot Minotauros to a 2-0 win against the Bismarck Bobcats.

Minot pulled out the victory even though it was hit with 28 penalty minutes.

The Minotauros were paced by Cody Milligan, who tallied one goal. Milligan scored 15:30 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Minot. Stephen Sherman assisted on the tally.

Minot excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in six chances. The Minotauros' defensive play was more effective than usual against Bismarck. Minot gives up 2.9 goals on average per game. With 30 shots on target during the contest, the Minotauros exceeded the 23.1 shots they average per game this year.

Minot also got a goal from Lucas Oliver as well. More assists for Minot came via Paul Sorenson, who had one.

The Bobcats were often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and two majors for 36 minutes in penalty time. The total exceeded the 15.0 minutes per game Bismarck had been spending in the box. The Bobcats put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Minot to score on any of its six power plays. Bismarck did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Bobcats average 2.8 goals per game. Bismarck's offense rang up 40 shots on the Minotauros' net.

The Bobcats were led by Filip Starzynski, who took six shots.
