Jamestown squeaks by Michigan, 4-3Dort Event Center 1 Fri, Mar 01, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Jamestown Ironmen escaped with a 4-3 victory over the Michigan Warriors. Neither team gained more than a one-goal lead, and Tyler Dunagan's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Jamestown was led by Dunagan, who finished with one goal and one assist. Dunagan scored 18:22 into the third period to make the score 4-3 Jamestown. Dylan Zink assisted on the tally. The Ironmen stifled Michigan's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Jamestown's defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in two goals. With 44 shots on target during the contest, the Ironmen exceeded the 32.1 shots they average per game this year. Jamestown additionally got points from Zink, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Matt Lanzillotti also scored for Jamestown. Other players who recorded assists for Jamestown were Ryan Urso, Joe Mottiqua, Ryan Doucet, and Luc Gerdes, who each chipped in one. The Warriors forced Jamestown goalie Joe Ballmer to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots. Michigan was helped by Connor Lyons, who racked up one goal. Lyons scored 17:19 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Michigan. Jon Farkas provided the assist. Michigan also got points from Zack Szajner, who also tallied one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Michigan also got a goal from Colin Larkin as well. In addition, Michigan received assists from Mitchell Wedding and Brock Labelle, who contributed one a piece. Ballmer recorded 29 saves for the Ironmen. Jamestown incurred 22 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Trevor Gorsuch rejected 40 shots on goal for the Warriors. Michigan incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
