GAME RECAP

Nagelvoort leads Aberdeen to shutout victory over Austin

Riverside    Fri, Mar 01, 2013

The Aberdeen Wings used a sparkling performance by Zach Nagelvoort to take down the Austin Bruins, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Aberdeen's 1-0 shutout victory.

Peter Krieger's game-winning tally was the game's only goal. It came at 16 seconds in the second period. Jordan Heller assisted on the tally.

The Wings were led by Krieger, who finished with one goal.

Aberdeen put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Austin to score on any of its three power plays. The Wings relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Heller, Steven Johnson and Justin Parizek took 13 of the team's 24 shots.

The Bruins were held below their usual level of production. Austin averages 3.8 goals per game. The Bruins' offense was clicking better than usual and put 32 shots on goal during the game, better than the 28.2 shots per game they average.

Austin was led by Riley Colvard, who took five shots.

Nagelvoort recorded 32 saves for Aberdeen. The Wings incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors. Jason Pawloski made 23 saves for the Bruins on 24 shots. Austin incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors.
