Wichita Falls blows out Odessa, 5-1

The Wichita Falls Wildcats had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 5-1 win over the Odessa Jackalopes.

Wichita Falls was sparked by Brian LeBlanc, who tallied one goal. LeBlanc scored 19:09 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Wichita Falls. Jake Townsend picked up the assist.

The Wildcats stifled Odessa's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. Wichita Falls put 41 shots on net during the contest, more than the 26.5 it averages per game.

Wichita Falls also got points from O'Neal L, who also racked up one goal and one assist and Kyle Bauman, who also had one goal and one assist. Wichita Falls also got a goal from Nick Farmer as well. Other players who recorded assists for Wichita Falls were Eliot Grauer, who had two and Patrick Yudez, Colin Staub, Matt Robinson, Will Vosejpka, and George Pagonis, who each chipped in one.

By firing 22 shots on goal, the Jackalopes exceeded the 14.9 shots they average per game this year.

Odessa was led by Matt Volonnino, who scored the team's only goal. Volonnino scored 6:54 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Wichita Falls. Mike Mezzano provided the assist.

The Wildcats' Evan Cowley stopped 21 shots out of the 22 that he faced. Wichita Falls totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 1-for-3 on the power play. Erick Majerle made 36 saves for the Jackalopes on 41 shots. Odessa totaled 13 minutes in penalty time with four minors and one major and went 0-for-3 on the power play.
