Wichita Falls survives Odessa comeback, wins 4-2

The Wichita Falls Wildcats survived a determined comeback attempt by the Odessa Jackalopes on the way to a 4-2 win.

Wichita Falls took a 4-1 lead during the second period, only to have Odessa storm back on a Brett Wagner goal 17:44 into the third period to pull to two goals down.

O'Neal L had a great game for the Wildcats, netting two goals. L scored short handed at 7:07 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Wichita Falls and again while 6:47 into the second to make the score 3-0 Wichita Falls.

With 38 shots on target during the contest, Wichita Falls exceeded the 27.4 shots it averages per game this year.

Wichita Falls also got points from George Pagonis, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Tyler Ledford also scored for Wichita Falls. More assists for Wichita Falls came via Jake Townsend, who had two and Patrick Yudez, Colin Staub, Eliot Grauer, and Kyle Bauman, who contributed one a piece.

The Jackalopes relied on a core group of players for most of their offense, as Zane Popilock, Wagner and Corey Hoffman took eight of the team's 15 shots.

In addition, Odessa received assists from Josh Racek and Matt Volonnino, who each chipped in one.

Evan Cowley rejected 13 shots on goal for the Wildcats. Wichita Falls incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Nick Deery recorded 34 saves for Odessa. The Jackalopes incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
