Aberdeen vanquishes Bismarck in shootout, 2-1 (2-1 SO)

Three periods of regulation and an overtime session were not enough to settle matters as the Aberdeen Wings defeated the Bismarck Bobcats in a shootout 2-1 (2-1 SO).

The two teams needed nine turns to complete the shootout. Bismarck's shootout goal was scored by Nate Repensky. Aberdeen's other shootout goal was scored by Peter Krieger.

The Bobcats were stymied by the Wings netminder Zach Nagelvoort, who stopped 28 shots during the victory. Nagelvoort certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 2.37 entering the contest.

Aberdeen put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Bismarck to score on any of its three power plays. The 28 shots that the Wings put on net surpassed Aberdeen's average of 25.3 shots per game this season.

The Wings were led by Krieger, who tallied one goal. Krieger scored 6:42 into the second period to make the score 1-0 Aberdeen. Jordan Heller assisted on the tally. More assists for Aberdeen came via Justin Parizek, who had one.

With 29 shots on target during the contest, the Bobcats exceeded the 21.0 shots they average per game this year.

Bismarck was led by Matt Anders, who scored the team's only goal. Anders scored 12:02 into the third period to make the score 1-1. Joe Giordano provided the assist.

Aberdeen incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. The Bobcats' Bryan Nies stopped 26 shots out of the 27 that he faced. Bismarck incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors.
