Soo beats Port Huron 3-2 after comeback scare

The Port Huron Fighting Falcons tried their best to erase a two-goal deficit, but the Soo Eagles would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 3-2.

Soo took a 3-1 lead during the third period, only to have Port Huron storm back on a Mick Bruce goal 9:24 into the third period to pull to one goal down.

Eric Rivard had a great game for the Eagles, netting two goals.

Soo put 34 shots on net during the contest, more than the 29.4 it averages per game.

Soo additionally got points from Robin Hoglund, who also tallied one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Soo were Cody Von Reuden, Kyle Froese, Pat Gazzillo, and Jared VanWormer, who each chipped in one.

The Fighting Falcons forced the Eagles goalie Tyler Marble to work between the pipes, taking 54 shots.

Port Huron was helped by Brett DAndrea, who had one goal. DAndrea scored 10:46 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Soo. Rick DeRosa assisted on the tally. In addition, Port Huron received assists from Ryan Nick, Easton Powers, and Dan Dupell, who contributed one a piece.

Marble rejected 52 shots on goal for Soo. The Eagles incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Max Milosek made 31 saves for the Fighting Falcons on 34 shots. Port Huron incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with three minors.
