Nelson leads Bismarck to shutout victory over Aberdeen

The Bismarck Bobcats used a sparkling performance by Aaron Nelson to take down the Aberdeen Wings, as the netminder did not allow a goal in Bismarck's 3-0 shutout victory.

The Bobcats' penalty kill excelled, as Bismarck gave up zero goals despite allowing seven power plays.

The Bobcats were led by Matt Pohlkamp, who registered one goal. Pohlkamp scored 19:37 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Bismarck. Bob Kinne provided the assist.

Bismarck stifled Aberdeen's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Bobcats' defense was surprisingly good. Bismarck allows 2.3 goals per game. The Bobcats put 39 shots on net during the contest, more than the 24.3 they average per game.

Bismarck additionally got points from Cory Chapman, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Matt Anders also scored for Bismarck. In addition, Bismarck received assists from Seth Blair, Nate Repensky, Shane Omdahl, and Sam Wolfe, who each chipped in one.

The Wings could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Aberdeen puts an average of 2.4 pucks into the net per game. The 29 shots that the Wings put on net surpassed Aberdeen's average of 26.1 shots per game this season.

The Wings were led by Justin Parizek, who took six shots.

Bismarck's Nelson stopped 29 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Bobcats incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors. Chad Catt made 36 saves for Aberdeen on 39 shots. The Wings incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
