Wenatchee hangs on, beats Johnstown 3-1

Trace Redmond gave the Wenatchee Wild the lead in the first period, and the Johnstown Tomahawks was never able to catch up in a close game that ended 3-1.

Redmond provided Wenatchee with the game-winning tally when he scored 3:11 into the the first period. Evan Schmidbauer picked up the assist.

The Wild were paced by Max McHugh, who had one goal. McHugh scored 12:00 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Wenatchee. Jacob Barber assisted on the tally.

Wenatchee stifled Johnstown's power play, and did not give up a single goal while down a man. The Wild average 29.2 shots on goal per game, but only sent 22 pucks on net against the Tomahawks.

Wenatchee also got a goal from Joseph Sullivan as well. Other players who recorded assists for Wenatchee were Joshua Hartley, Noah Nelson, Jono Davis, and Trevor Stewart, who contributed one a piece.

Johnstown put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Wenatchee to score on any of its six power plays. The Tomahawks were below their usual level of shot production, taking 23 shots compared to the 29.0 Johnstown averages. The Tomahawks could not produce up to they normal offensive output. Johnstown puts an average of 3.1 pucks into the net per game.

The Tomahawks were led by Mitch Hall, who scored the team's only goal. Hall scored short handed 53 seconds into the second period to make the score 2-1 Wenatchee. Cody Gylling provided the assist.

The Wild's Robert Nichols stopped 22 shots out of the 23 that he faced. Wenatchee ended with 15 minutes in penalty time with five minors and one major. Chris Truehl rejected 19 shots on goal for Johnstown. The Tomahawks totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 0-for-5 on the power play.
