Wenatchee rolls over Fresno, 4-1

The Wenatchee Wild had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to a 4-1 win over the Fresno Monsters.

Wenatchee was sparked by Jacob Barber, who had one goal and one assist. Barber scored on the power play 19:59 into the first period to make the score 2-0 Wenatchee. A high sticking penalty on Newton Fuller had put the Wild on the power play. Chris Kerr provided the assist.

Wenatchee racked up the penalties in the contest, and ended with six minors and one major for 57 minutes in penalty time. The Wild had been averaging 27.0 minutes in penalties per game. Wenatchee's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Fresno power plays.

Others who scored for Wenatchee included Max McHugh, who had one and Trevor Stewart, who had two. In addition, Wenatchee received assists from Evan Schmidbauer, Noah Nelson, Jono Davis, Joseph Sullivan, and Dylan Abood, who each chipped in one.

Fresno was often in penalty trouble, totaling seven minors and one major for 39 minutes in penalty time. The Monsters surpassed its season average of 19.0 penalty minutes per game. The 20 shots that Fresno put on net surpassed the Monsters' average of 16.4 shots per game this season.

Fresno was led by Matt Salituro, who scored the team's only goal. Salituro scored 1:24 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Wenatchee. Dan Sherer picked up the assist.

The Wild's Nick Schmit stopped 19 shots out of the 20 that he faced. Wenatchee registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Macauley Haight made 25 saves for the Monsters on 29 shots.
