Port Huron hangs on, beats Michigan 2-1

The Port Huron Fighting Falcons beat the Michigan Warriors, 2-1, in a contest where the winning goal was scored in the first period but the game remained close throughout.

Mitch Maloney provided Port Huron with the game-winning tally when he scored 8:36 into the the first period. Vito Aluia picked up the assist.

The Fighting Falcons were led by Tyler Spezia, who grabbed one goal. Spezia scored on the power play 5:35 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Port Huron. Port Huron earned a power play opportunity when Heinz Koster was put in the box for elbowing. David Parrottino provided the assist.

The Fighting Falcons put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow Michigan to score on any of its four power plays. Port Huron put 32 shots on net during the contest, more than the 25.0 it averages per game.

Other players who recorded assists for Port Huron were Easton Powers and Kyle Plageman, who contributed one a piece.

The Warriors were led by TJ Stuntz, who scored the team's only goal. Stuntz scored 6:13 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Port Huron. Ryan Dougherty picked up the assist.

Max Milosek rejected 21 shots on goal for the Fighting Falcons. Port Huron totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 1-for-6 on the power play. Trevor Gorsuch recorded 30 saves for Michigan. The Warriors incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
