Truehl stymies Janesville, Johnstown wins 3-1

Chris Truehl had a standout game with 32 saves, and the Johnstown Tomahawks beat the Janesville Jets 3-1.

Johnstown was led by JB Baker, who finished with one goal. Baker scored 6:44 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Johnstown. Jesse Kessler assisted on the tally.

The Tomahawks excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in five chances. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals.

Johnstown also got points from Casey Nelson, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Johnstown also got a goal from Mitch Hall as well. Other players who recorded assists for Johnstown were Jordan Watt, Brandon Reinholz, and Mitch Kontny, who each chipped in one.

Janesville relied on a core group of players for most of its offense, as Pedlan Ruslan, Conor Lemirande and Kucerovy took 17 of the team's 33 shots.

The Jets were led by Mike Sullivan, who scored the team's only goal. Sullivan scored 2:36 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Janesville. Jack Billings picked up the assist.

Johnstown incurred 18 minutes in penalty time with nine minors. Janesville's Austin Priebe stopped 24 shots out of the 27 that he faced. The Jets incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with seven minors.
