Sullivan's big game bests Fresno in 6-3 Wenatchee win

The Wenatchee Wild's Joseph Sullivan had a big offensive game, scoring one goal and contributing two assists in his team's 6-3 win over the Fresno Monsters.

Sullivan got on the board by slotting home a power play goal 4:28 into the first period to make the score 1-1. Wenatchee had gained a power play chance when Mark Bittner was whistled for interference. Max McHugh provided the assist. Sullivan dished an assist on Chris Kerr's goal that made the score 2-1 Wenatchee at 9:10 into the first period. He added another helper on Brian Williams's goal that made the score 5-1 Wenatchee at 15:50 into the second period.

The Wild were often in penalty trouble, totaling eight minors and three majors for 61 minutes in penalty time. Wenatchee surpassed its season average of 26.0 penalty minutes per game. The Wild outdid their season average for goals scored. Wenatchee has scored at the pace of 3.4 goals per game during the current campaign. By firing 37 shots on goal, the Wild exceeded the 27.9 shots they average per game this year.

Wenatchee also got points from Kerr, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, Jono Davis, who also had one goal and two assists, McHugh, who also finished with one goal and one assist, and Williams, who also registered one goal and one assist. Joshua Hartley also scored for Wenatchee. More assists for Wenatchee came via Nicholas Kuchera, Jacob Barber, Alex Schoenborn, and Blake Butzow, who each chipped in one.

Fresno forced its penalty killing units to work especially hard during the game, picking up seven minors and three majors for 29 minutes in penalty time. The Monsters had been averaging 19.0 minutes in penalties per game. Fresno put 25 shots on net during the contest, more than the 16.3 it averages per game.

The Monsters were led by Trevor Husch, who grabbed one goal. Husch scored short handed 4:10 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Fresno. Fresno also got a goal from Chase Sisk as well. Other players who recorded assists for Fresno were Troy Grahl, Jesse Durfee, Dan Sherer, and Justin Plate, who contributed one a piece.

Robert Nichols recorded 22 saves for Wenatchee. The Wild registered one goal on four power play opportunities. Fresno's Tomas Sholl stopped 31 shots out of the 37 that he faced. The Monsters registered one goal on five power play opportunities.
