Coulee Region wins tough contest against Aberdeen, 4-3Omni Center Fri, Feb 08, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Coulee Region Chill escaped with a 4-3 victory over the Aberdeen Wings. No lead was more than two goals during the contest, and the winning goal was scored by Cory Lushanko at 2:30 of the third period. Lushanko had two goals to lead Coulee Region to victory. With 29 shots on target during the contest, the Chill exceeded the 25.0 shots they average per game this year. Coulee Region found itself short handed often, totaling 36 penalty minutes and allowing four power plays. James McGing also scored for Coulee Region. In addition, Coulee Region received assists from Derek Smith, Brady Riesgraf, Sean Lang, Kevin Becker, Andy Faust, Blake Kelley, and Cam Bleck, who each chipped in one. Aberdeen put 30 shots on net during the contest, more than the 26.0 it averages per game. The Wings were helped by Erik Baskin, who tallied one goal. Baskin scored 15:00 into the second period to make the score 3-3. Carl Witty provided the assist. Aberdeen also got a goal from Patrick Steinhauser as well. More assists for Aberdeen came via Steven Johnson, Jake Horton, and Tyler Cisar, who contributed one a piece. Tim Shaughnessy recorded 27 saves for the Chill. Coulee Region registered one goal on two power play opportunities. Aberdeen's Chad Catt stopped 25 shots out of the 29 that he faced. The Wings incurred 20 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
