Sharkey's hat trick boosts Topeka over Texas, 5-3

Kyle Sharkey lifted the Topeka RoadRunners to a 5-3 victory with a hat trick against the Texas Tornado.

Sharkey got on the scoresheet 12:27 into the first period. He then added goals at 15:27 into the first and at 19:31 into the third.

Topeka led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the RoadRunners' Ross Luedtke's scored at 9:12 in the second period to put Topeka up 4-1.

The 30 shots that the RoadRunners put on net surpassed Topeka's average of 22.2 shots per game this season.

More assists for Topeka came via Trace Strahle, who had two and Juraj Kucirko, Sean Gaffney, Tyler Groat, Jerad Tafoya, and Brandon Brossoit, who contributed one a piece.

By firing 32 shots on goal, Texas exceeded the 28.3 shots it averages per game this year.

The Tornado were led by Justin Greenberg, who finished with one goal and one assist. Greenberg scored 57 seconds into the first period to make the score 1-0 Texas. Brandon Platt assisted on the tally. Texas also got a goal from Jackson Leef as well. In addition, Texas received assists from Michael Hoy and Louie Rowe, who each chipped in one.

Spencer Viele recorded 29 saves for the RoadRunners. Topeka finished the contest with no penalties and went 0-for-2 with the man advantage. Hunter Leisner made 25 saves for Texas on 29 shots. The Tornado incurred 14 minutes in penalty time with two minors and had no power play opportunities.
