Gorsuch, Michigan blank Springfield, 3-0

Trevor Gorsuch made 32 saves to complete the shutout and led the Michigan Warriors to a 3-0 win against the Springfield Jr. Blues.

Michigan was led by Joshua Shellman, who finished with one goal. Shellman scored on the power play 19:26 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Michigan. The Warriors had gotten the advantage when Springfield's Jack Sloan was sent off for hooking. AJ Marcinek picked up the assist.

Michigan put up an impenetrable defensive front on the penalty kill, and did not allow the Jr. Blues to score on any of their five power plays. The Warriors average 27.4 shots on goal per game, but only sent 16 pucks on net against Springfield. Michigan's defensive play was more effective than usual against the Jr. Blues. The Warriors average 3.0 goals allowed per game.

Michigan also got a goal from Zack Szajner as well. More assists for Michigan came via Jake Faiella, Connor Lyons, Darren McCormick, and Brock Labelle, who contributed one a piece.

Springfield did not reach the goal total it has come to expect this season. The Jr. Blues put an average of 2.5 pucks into the net per game. Springfield forced Michigan goalie Gorsuch to work between the pipes, taking 32 shots.

The Jr. Blues were led by Davis Dekorte, who took four shots.

The Warriors totaled 17 minutes in penalty time with six minors and one major and went 1-for-2 on the power play. Ryan Kellenberger recorded 13 saves for Springfield. The Jr. Blues ended with 11 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major.
