Aberdeen survives Coulee Region comeback, wins 6-5Odde Ice Center Fri, Feb 01, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Coulee Region Chill tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Aberdeen Wings would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 6-5. A goal by JD Cotroneo put Aberdeen up 6-3 in the third period, but Coulee Region pulled to within one on Andy Faust's tally 19:50 into the third period. The Wings got the win behind a great game by Justin Parizek, who had two goals and one assist. Parizek scored the first of his two goals on the power play at 5:50 into the first period to make the score 2-1 Coulee Region. A tripping penalty on Zach Doerring had put Aberdeen on the power play. Steven Johnson provided the assist. Parizek's next tally on the power play made the score 4-2 Aberdeen with 3:08 left in the first period. Peter Krieger assisted on the tally. The Wings found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. This season, Aberdeen averages 2.4 goals per contest. The Wings' defensemen played an important role in the offense, chipping in three goals. With 46 shots on target during the contest, Aberdeen exceeded the 26.0 shots it averages per game this year. Jake Horton also scored for Aberdeen. More assists for Aberdeen came via Liam McGing, Sam Coborn, Jordan Heller, Kyle Haak, Zach Kraft, and Jonathan Grebosky, who each chipped in one. The Chill bested their season scoring average. Coulee Region has scored at the pace of 2.7 goals per game during the current campaign. The 35 shots that the Chill put on net surpassed Coulee Region's average of 26.5 shots per game this season. Coulee Region also got points from Hunter Anderson, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Coulee Region also got a goal from Kevin Becker as well. In addition, Coulee Region received assists from Derek Smith, who had two and Matt Williams, Max Zebro, Cam Bleck, and Garrett Hendrickson, who contributed one a piece. Chad Catt rejected 30 shots on goal for the Wings. Aberdeen incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors. Devin Kero recorded 40 saves for the Chill. Coulee Region totaled 21 minutes in penalty time with three minors and one major and went 2-for-4 on the power play. The Chill ran into serious disciplinary problems during the contest, and Jake Kauppila was ejected from the game.
