Johnstown survives Port Huron comeback, wins 3-2Cambria County War Memorial Thu, Jan 31, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Johnstown Tomahawks came close to giving away a three-goal lead to the Port Huron Fighting Falcons, but did just enough to escape with a 3-2 victory. Johnstown led by three goals at one point and ended with the victory. The largest advantage in the game came when the Tomahawks' Brandon Reinholz's scored at 5:15 in the second period to put Johnstown up 3-0. The Tomahawks' offense was helped by the efforts of their defensemen, who managed to put 16 shots on net during the game. With 38 shots on target during the contest, Johnstown exceeded the 26.6 shots it averages per game this year. Johnstown also got points from JB Baker, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Johnstown also got a goal from Casey Nelson as well. More assists for Johnstown came via Cody Boyd, Mitch Hall, Cody Gylling, and Mitch Kontny, who each chipped in one. Port Huron's penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on five Johnstown power plays. The Fighting Falcons were helped by Matthew Uvodich, who grabbed one goal. Uvodich scored on the power play 11:19 into the second period to make the score 3-1 Johnstown. Port Huron had gained a power play chance when Hall was whistled for delay of game. Dunk Abbott provided the assist. Nick Horne also scored for Port Huron. In addition, Port Huron received assists from Mick Bruce and Zach Badalamenti, who contributed one a piece. Chris Truehl recorded 24 saves for the Tomahawks. Johnstown incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors. The Fighting Falcons' Alex Blankenburg stopped 35 shots out of the 38 that he faced. Port Huron incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
