Fairbanks rips Fresno, 8-3Selland Arena Sat, Jan 26, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
The Fairbanks Ice Dogs had a two-goal lead after two periods and cruised the rest of the way en route to an 8-3 win over the Fresno Monsters. Mike Parnell had one goal and two assists to lead Fairbanks. Parnell scored 8:06 into the second period to make the score 4-1 Fairbanks. Colton Wolter provided the assist. The Ice Dogs found the back of the net more times than it usually has this season. Fairbanks has scored at the pace of 3.4 goals per game during the current campaign. Team's forwards weren't the only contributers offensively, and the team's defensemen showcased their scoring touch with two goals. The 45 shots that the Ice Dogs put on net surpassed Fairbanks' average of 28.9 shots per game this season. Fairbanks additionally got points from Wolter, who also registered one goal and one assist, Patrick Newell, who also grabbed one goal and one assist, and Nick Hinz, who also finished with one goal and one assist. Fairbanks also got a goal from Logan Wendling as well. In addition, Fairbanks received assists from Duggie Lagrone, who had one and Garret Clemment, Ryan McNeely, and Jayson Angus, who contributed two a piece. Fresno excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The defense for the Monsters played an important role offensively, racking up nine shots on goal. Fresno was helped by Tyler Shipstad, who racked up one goal. Shipstad scored 18:14 into the second period to make the score 5-3 Fairbanks. Newton Fuller assisted on the tally. Fresno also got points from Ian Janco, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Dan Sherer, who also grabbed one goal and one assist. Other players who recorded assists for Fresno were Sean Kalbak and Matt Salituro, who each chipped in one. The Ice Dogs' Kevin Aldridge stopped 12 shots out of the 15 that he faced. Fairbanks incurred eight minutes in penalty time with four minors. Macauley Haight took the loss and made 32 saves before being replaced by Tomas Sholl who made five saves. The Monsters incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
