The Corpus Christi IceRays tried their best to erase a three-goal deficit, but the Odessa Jackalopes would not be denied the victory and hung on to win, 4-3. Odessa made the score 4-1 on a goal by Lawrence Cornellier at 9:55 in the third period, and Corpus Christi got as close as 4-3 when Beau Walker scored 15:38 into the third period. The Jackalopes got the win thanks to a great game by Cornellier, who had two goals and two assists. Cornellier scored the first of his two goals at 7:06 into the third period to make the score 3-1 Odessa. Jimmy Peplinski assisted on the tally. Cornellier's next tally made the score Odessa with 10:05 left in the third period. Odessa earned a power play opportunity when Brandon Berkley was put in the box for tripping. Anthony Olguin provided the assist. The Jackalopes excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. With 28 shots on target during the contest, Odessa exceeded the 15.5 shots it averages per game this year. Odessa also got points from Taylor Portner, who also tallied one goal and one assist and Olguin, who also had one goal and two assists. Other players who recorded assists for Odessa were Zane Popilock, who had one. The 38 shots that the IceRays put on net surpassed Corpus Christi's average of 21.9 shots per game this season. Brandon Smith also scored for Corpus Christi. In addition, Corpus Christi received assists from Rudy Sulmonde, Lucas McDiarmid, Joe Ginley, Emil Romig, and Eric Purcell, who contributed one a piece. The Jackalopes' Nick Deery stopped 35 shots out of the 38 that he faced. Odessa totaled 24 minutes in penalty time with two minors and two majors and went 1-for-4 on the power play. Hayden Stewart rejected 24 shots on goal for the IceRays. Corpus Christi ended with 18 minutes in penalty time with four minors and two majors.
