Wojtala stymies Springfield, Jamestown wins 4-1

A stellar performance between the pipes by Blake Wojtala helped the Jamestown Ironmen defeat the Springfield Jr. Blues, 4-1.

Jamestown was led by Michael Mazzotta, who had one goal. Mazzotta scored 14:15 into the second period to make the score 2-1 Jamestown. Joe Mottiqua provided the assist.

Jamestown additionally got points from Mottiqua, who also tallied one goal and two assists to lead the team in points. Jamestown also got a goal from Ryan Doucet as well. More assists for Jamestown came via Luc Gerdes, who had two and Tyler Minx, Huba Sekesi, and Dylan Zink, who each chipped in one.

Springfield excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in three chances. The Jr. Blues put 32 shots on net during the contest, more than the 26.1 they average per game.

Springfield was led by Jack Sloan, who scored the team's only goal. Sloan scored on the power play 15:05 into the first period to make the score 1-1. A holding penalty on Zink had put the Jr. Blues on the power play. Ryan Atkinson picked up the assist.

Wojtala recorded 31 saves for the Ironmen. Jamestown incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Matt Leon made 24 saves for Springfield on 28 shots. The Jr. Blues incurred 10 minutes in penalty time with five minors.
