Brookings wins tough contest against Bismarck, 3-2Larson Ice Center Red Wed, Jan 23, 2013 Story by Narrative Science.
In a game where neither team could get a cushion, the Brookings Blizzard escaped with a 3-2 victory over the Bismarck Bobcats. Neither team gained more than a two-goal lead, and Connor Andrle's goal in the third period proved to be the difference maker. Brookings was paced by Andrle, who registered one goal. Andrle scored 10:44 into the third period to make the score 3-2 Brookings. Eric Brenk picked up the assist. The Blizzard excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The 33 shots that Brookings put on net surpassed the Blizzard's average of 25.0 shots per game this season. Brookings additionally got points from Adam Cavalinni, who also grabbed one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Drew Brevig also scored for Brookings. In addition, Brookings received assists from Thomas Williams, who had two and Jordan Stejskal and Eetu Karvinen, who each chipped in one.
